Contest University Italy - Montichiari

We had luck to be a part of the Contest University Italy. This event was during weekend of 10th March 2018 in the Montichiari close to the Lago di Garda. It means around 2400km from our OL7M QTH. We could present our parts and what more, we could meet new and old friends :)

Thanks a lot for great hospitality to Stefano IK2QEI and all team members around CTU! It was really nice to meet you guys as 9A1A, D4CJohn K1AR, Saaid CN8WW and many others :)

PS: Never had such great italian dinners as there :) AMAZING !!!

CQ WPX RTTY SOAB SO2R by OK6W NEW EU RECORD?

After last year, when I run Single op 80m and win the World with NEW WORLD record, I left QTH to Pavel OK1MU. In BARTG RTTY where we tried SO2R all bands for the first time, Pavel made decision to try the same with 2BSIQ SO2R in WPX.
 Our cat Marous
10 + 15m and 40m 2el moxon
Stack for 15m and 20m
And new 500W wind generator

From Pavel OK1MU:
In the past years I participated in the SOSB20 and SOSB40m.  This year I decided to run  SOAB HP category for the first time. Because our QTH OL7M is building for MS-MM category, several adjustments were needed to control all the bands from one workstation. My big thanks to Jan OK2ZAW, who prepared and completed all setup and even prepared great meals! Everything worked without a single mistake full time. Great job!!!

I also used SO2R for the first time with 2BSIQ for the whole 30 hours and I was very excited. The final result due to using SO2R is brutal compared to the conventional SO1R ! Thanks to 2BSIQ I was never bored for a single minute of whole contest, hi. I have never spent so many hours preparing the best working strategy before the contest like now. This was absolutely essential to make this success. Due it I was satisfied with the chosen strategy. Despite the average conditions I worked 750 x NA, 160 x JA and 102 DXCC.

Thank you for the nice online match on Live score with Krzysztof SN7Q, Rich CR5V and Bud AA3B ! Adrenaline and fun during the contest were again a one level higher!

This contest was an unforgettable experience for me, culminating in a new European record.

RBN for OK6W:

During the contest I tested RedPitaya on K9AY loop without any preamp and filters! Just with my impedance transformer and protections. It was incredible, how K9AY loop worked also during TXing. It is only abt 30m from TX antennas. RedPitaya showed +10dBm of own signals :)

BARTG RTTY sprint instead of CQ WW 160

Instead of the CQ WW 160, where the windstorm broke our TOP band vertical, we participated in the BARTG sprint. We did this contest mainly as the training of SO2R for the upcoming CQ WPX RTTY. Everything worked perfectly and we enjoyed the contest, working interleaved on two bands was totally exciting! We used the IC7800 + IC7600. There were exactly 900 QSO in the log and pileups were great during the first 12 hours. The other half, thanks to less participation and bad CONDX, was boring and much slower. We worked 200 x NA and 80 x JA. Anyway thank you for the nice contest and every QSO, see you in the WPX RTTY.

We could not RUN CQ WW 160m but I played a little bit with skimmer RX. I used two RedPitayas, one with beverage on 160m CW and second on 40m CW + RTTY.

ARRL RTTY RU 2018

Again the contest was superb fun and we enjoyed it as much as possible!  This year, compared to the last one when it was -25°C and a lot of snow, there was +10 C and no snow at all, just a tons and tons of mud...
There were good conditions from the central EU on 40m and 80m, and many amazing signals from W6/7 on the low bands.  I do not remember time when at 12.00 GMT we played at west coast on 40m! We were on RBN since 12GMT to the end.

And also nice singal at WC on 80m :)

The 20m band was average and unfortunately closed here very soon. On 15m band we made just 3 QSOs and in almost zero activity... Nothing on 10m.
Here is the number of our QSOs with the NA stations over the last 6 years, when we regularly participate in ARRL Roundup:
2013 - 693 QSO
2014 – 682 QSO
2015 - 443 QSO
2016 - 515 QSO
2017 - 425 QSO
2018 - 444 QSO
After 11 years of QTH building, it was also first time we used our new large bathroom, so another step to the further and our women and girlfriends are celebrating that we made something useful also for them , hihihi …..

We used three decoders: MMTTY, 2tone and GRitty

Thanks again for all QSOs  and see you next time!
